San Leandro Sets Fees for Concealed Carry Licenses
The San Leandro City Council recently approved new fees for concealed carry licenses. The fees will be $424 for the public, $453 for judges, $470 for reserve officers, and $369 for special employment applicants. The San Leandro Police Department fees will be in addition to fees charged by the California Department of Justice to determine eligibility.
Prior to 2022, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office processed all concealed carry applications for the county. Now, local police departments are responsible for processing applications. Concealed carry applications have increased significantly after the United States Supreme Court decided Bruen, where it held that the government cannot put burdens in place for concealed carry applicants who otherwise are entitled to own and possess a gun. The government “shall issue” a concealed carry permit in these circumstances.
As with all firearm applications in California, concealed carry applicants will need to undergo fingerprinting through LIVESCAN to check their criminal history background.
